Between seasons, I’ll be dropping in here from time to time with some short pieces (don’t worry, there’ll be no need for a TL;DR synopsis). Reviews and thoughts on various stories, novels, films, pop culture artifacts, and so on — basically the substance of the podcast — will be featured. I might write on a work, like a short story, that’s interesting but doesn’t necessarily merit a half-hour discussion. Or about an upcoming/newly-released book that warrants attention and readership.

Today, I want to tease the topics you’ll be treated to when Season 2 of the podcast arrives in a month or so. (A more solid date will be shared soon.) Snakes, hurricanes, alien visitors, Cuban sandwiches, crime and punishment, antebellum Florida history, a striking take on Patrick Smith’s A Land Remembered, a “real” Florida bestiary — these are some of the things we’ll talk about (relative to their presence in Florida literature and cultural texts!). Of course, the previous sentence is completely devoid of context, so you can only imagine the profound insights and angles we’ll take on those subjects.

So you’ll hear from us a little bit down the road. Until then, enjoy these little snippets and feel free to offer affirmations, rebuttals, or any kind of additional input on them! If you think they’re worth discussing at more length, let me know.

Til later,
Christopher Nank
